The day begins with an early meet-up at the designated location, as indicated on your excursion ticket. In my case, the excursion kicked off at a brisk 6:20 AM, offering a glimpse of the serene darkness enveloping Tortola. It's worth noting that different time slots may be available, so consulting with your travel agent ensures you choose a time that aligns with your preferences. The entire excursion is expected to span approximately 3.5 hours, making it a manageable yet fulfilling experience.

With various excursions sharing similar names, it's crucial to pay attention to details to avoid joining the wrong group. Once you've confirmed you're in the right place, you'll meet your tour guide, who will bring you onto a boat for the journey to the Virgin Gorda area.


Boat Ride

As you set sail, brace yourself for a potentially windy ride. Sitting at the front of the boat might result in getting splashed, especially if the weather takes an unexpected turn. During my excursion, rain added an extra element, emphasizing the importance of sitting inside the boat where protective plastic windows shielded against wind, rain, and water splashes.

The crew provides essential snorkeling gear, including masks, life vests, and snorkeling shoes. You can leave unnecessary belongings on the boat as you prepare to immerse yourself in the vibrant underwater world. Upon anchoring near the Baths, the boat transforms into a gateway for exploration. With snorkeling gear in hand, you'll descend the boat ladder and snorkel your way to the awe-inspiring ashore destination. 


The Baths

The Baths are renowned for their massive granite boulders, some reaching as high as 40 feet. These boulders are believed to have been formed by volcanic activity and subsequent erosion over millions of years. The unique arrangement of the boulders creates enchanting grottoes, tunnels, and pools. 

While traversing the paths, take a moment to appreciate the breathtaking national rock formations of the Virgin Gorda Baths. The unique geological features, created over centuries, add a captivating touch to the natural landscape. The interplay of light and shadows on the smooth surfaces of the rocks creates a visual spectacle that complements the surrounding beauty.


Underwater Wonderland


After savoring the terrestrial wonders, the adventure continues with snorkeling around the Baths. Delight in the underwater world, encountering colorful fish and reveling in the joy of exploration. It's a good idea to bring a towel for after snorkeling, providing a practical way to dry up and protect against any cold weather if present as it's still early in the morning. Following this aquatic escapade, hop back on the boat for a comfortable journey back to the cruise ship.
